What this website and its support inbox handle, and what they don’t.

Last updated October 29, 2026

Who this notice covers

This notice covers the Velvet Hours homepage, these information pages, and messages sent to our support address. TWST Studio Inc. is responsible for that information, and Mikayla Ericsson is the person in charge of protecting it.

It is not the privacy policy for the upcoming app, which will have its own before it is available. The observer programme and the earlier forecast website have their own privacy notice.

When you visit

The homepage does not ask you to create an account, join a mailing list or share your device’s location. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Turning the globe or opening a town card is not recorded and does not tell us where you are.

To show the page, your browser asks our server for the page itself, its artwork and fonts, the latest calls and the time. All of it comes from velvethours.space; nothing is loaded from another company’s servers.

What we count

When the homepage loads, our server notes the time, the page and its language, and whether you came directly, from a link on another site (we keep only that site’s name, such as google.com) or from another of our pages. It notes the country and the province or state your connection comes from, as our network provider Cloudflare reports them, never your city or exact location, and whether your device is an iPhone or iPad, an Android device or a computer, and the language your browser asks for first.

Nothing we count is linked to you, to your device or to your other visits: these counts hold no IP address, no device identifier and no record of your browser. We use them to see how the site is used, never to profile anyone. The information pages and the globe’s updates are not counted.

What our server sees to deliver a page

Like any website, Cloudflare and our server handle your connection’s address to send you the page. Our server’s logs keep the time, the page asked for, the address of the page that linked to it and your browser’s description of itself (its name and version, and your operating system’s). Our server is configured to rotate access logs daily and retain 14 previous log files alongside the current file. This does not guarantee deletion on a particular day. When you visit velvethours.space, the address they record is that of Cloudflare’s network, not yours. Cloudflare keeps its own records of the requests it handles under its own policies, including security events for up to 31 days.

When you email us

We receive your email address, your message and any attachments you choose to send, and use them only to answer you or handle your request. Please leave out passwords, payment details and precise locations unless they are needed. Writing to us does not sign you up for anything, and we do not sell or share your messages.

Who handles it, and where

Cloudflare, an American company, carries every visit to the site. DigitalOcean, an American company, runs our server in Toronto. Bunny, a Slovenian company, stores our backups in Germany, with a copy in the United States; they are encrypted before they leave our server, so Bunny cannot read them. Google, an American company, hosts our email. So information may be processed outside Québec and outside Canada, and may be accessible to the courts and authorities of those countries.

How long we keep it

Each count: 25 months, then only daily totals. Server logs: rotated as described above. Our backups hold copies of both for up to four weeks more. Your emails: for as long as we are in touch, and we delete them when you ask. Mikayla is the only person who can see the counts, the logs, the backups and the support inbox.

Your questions and choices

Write to mikayla@twst.studio to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to raise a concern. Because nothing we count is linked to you, there is usually nothing to find, but we will look and answer within 30 days. If we need to confirm that a request is yours, we’ll explain what is needed and why.

If our answer does not settle it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, in Québec to the Commission d’accès à l’information, or to the privacy authority where you live.

When this notice changes

We change this notice when what the site does changes, and the date above changes with it. Nothing is added to what we count without a written decision. Read the Terms for how the site may be used.
